Charlie and Senator Mel Martinez Help Celebrate 3 Million Meals Served with His Brother Commissioner Robert Stuart and The Orlando Christian Services Center
The Stuart family tradition of community service proudly continued this day, as Charlie and his brother, Commissioner Robert Stuart, Executive Director of the Orlando Christian Service Center, and Senator Mel Martinez, helped to celebrate 3 million meals served through the Daily Bread Program at the Christian Service Center. The Daily Bread program serves free lunch time meals from soup kitchens and dining facilities in both downtown Orlando and Ocoee, and has been doing this since the program started in the kitchen of St. James Cathedral in 1975. The Christian Service Center has proudly served the community since June 1, 1971, providing assistance to the poor, feeding the hungry, helping people overcome drug and alcohol addiction, providing counseling, and supporting programs such as Fresh Start and Mothers Helping Mothers.
